Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We now accept most insurance plans within the networks of Cigna, Aetna, United, Optum, UMR, Oxford, Oscar Health, Quest, Carelon and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and Massachusettes. We also accept electronic payments with a credit card or debit card for those who do not wish to use insurance.
I don't have insurance. Do you accept self-pay?
Yes. We accept self-pay. You must have a valid debit card or credit card when signing up and prior to any scheduled sessions. For self pay, please click here, click on "Request a consultation" and after entering your contact information, under payment method choose "None - I'll pay out of pocket". Complete all the fields and check your emails for any correspondence and next steps.
Is medication or therapy more effective?
The combination of medication and therapy is significantly more effective than either treatment alone which is why Cameo specializes in providing both. Depending on the severity of symptoms, it is important to choose a provider that has the options and open-mindedness to utilize a variety of tools including medication and modalities of therapy to improve an individuals mental health as quickly as possible.
What clients do you see?
We see clients residing in the State of Arizona from ages 8 and older on an individual basis. Cameo specializes in medication management for a variety of patients including:
-Women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are postpartum. It is important that you find a provider that values the health and safety of you, your child, and can explain the benefits and risks of medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
-Individuals suffering from Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD significantly affects the trajectory of a person's life, health, financial health and relationships. It can present as anxiety, indecision, chaos, and emotional dysregulation and it's important to find a provider that knows how to look for these symptoms for the proper diagnosis
-Individuals suffering from the negative effects of marginalization. This can include depression, social anxiety, and fear of isolation, LGBTQ issues and religious issues. She also specializes in personality disorders.
-Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Eating Disorders, ADHD, Borderline Personality Disorder, LGBTQ issues, religious issues
-We do not see emergent patients or patients that require a high-level of intensive care. We are a small practice only open a limited amount of hours without access to social services.
How long is treatment?
The length of treatment is individualized, however, it is our goal to meet until symptoms are stabilized for 12 months. If medications are required beyond that length of time you will be provided with a referral to your local provider. We want to get you the right diagnosis, the right medication and therapy if needed and get you on the right track for healing. Many people don't know where to start and the process can seem overwhelming. We are here to give you tools and education to get headed in the direction of self-empowerment. Educational materials will likely be suggested to continue to work on treatment on your own and between visits. We are here to help you begin the journey.
What can I expect at the first visit?
Cameo is trained to ask questions to evaluate your symptoms using the DSM-5 diagnostic tool for psychiatric providers. She will send over pre-assessments for you to fill out and then ask you about your situation at your appointment. No 60 minute intake evaluation is the same as everybody is different and the evaluations are individualized. She offers diagnosis and medications for most first visits.
What does it mean that you're a virtual practice?
Everything is electronic meaning we communicate via email or televisit using HIPAA compliant software. We allow you to complete assessments and paperwork on your own schedule all through email. Appointment reminders and correspondence is sent through email. Please regularly check your email if you are a patient or are requesting to become a patient. Your insurance and co-pays are easily automated. Prescriptions are sent to your pharmacy of choice electronically by your provider. We use a website called Doxy that is HIPAA compliant for your televisits. You will need to have a stable Internet connection during your appointments in order to utilize services from Ponderosa Psychiatry.
